Project Title: Teaching and Talking about Religion in Public PI: Linell Cady, Franca G. Oreffice Dean's Distinguished Professor of Religious Studies and Founding Director, Center for the Study of Religion and Conflict.
Arizona State University’s Center for the Study of Religion and Conflict is one of the few established academic sites in the country devoted to the study of religion and conflict. It will lead an innovative faculty development and curriculum enrichment project to prepare ASU faculty for a more religiously diverse student body and prepare ASU students for a world marked by increasing diversity and religious conflict. Specifically, the project will: improve teaching about religion and religious conflict in contemporary social contexts, both within the department of religious studies and in other units of the university; create an undergraduate certificate program in religion and conflict; and develop the skills of faculty to facilitate conversation about religion among a growing student body marked by increasing religious diversity.
