Projects / LaGuardia Community College,
Let Everyone Remain Free
PI: Rosemary Talmadge, Special Assistant to the President for Organizational Development.
LaGuardia Community College’s Let Everyone Remain Free project will prepare LaGuardia faculty and staff to better address the issues of religious pluralism on campus and in the larger society. Grant funds will be used to support the following activities: Members of the college community and faith-based organizations will use the “study circle” process to discuss sources of tension, opportunities for collaboration and the American traditions of religious and academic freedom; A group of faculty will be trained in digital storytelling to teach new classes where students produce digital stories on religious diversity; The college’s Center for Teaching and Learning will conduct a year-long seminar to help faculty introduce new material on religious diversity into their courses; and the college will hold a day-long culminating event that brings together participants from the study circles, students who have produced digital stories, and faculty who have participated in the seminar.
