The Middle East and America: Clash of Civilizations or Meeting of the Minds
PI: Mark Rosenblum, Director, The Michael Harrington Center.

Queens College will develop and disseminate a replicable model and curriculum for promoting understanding and informed discussion about the conflict in the Middle East. This project builds upon a highly-acclaimed pilot project—a one-semester course entitled “The Middle East and America: Meeting of the Minds or Clash of Civilizations.” It will draw upon the widest range of responsible viewpoints in the United States and abroad while challenging Queens College students, Queens County high school teachers and community members to reflect critically on their most basic assumptions, conceptions and goals. It will also produce lesson plans and gather materials for a Middle East Teaching Resources Library to be used by college and high school teachers in the metropolitan area.
